BURBANK, Calif., November 2, 2009 – Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority President Joyce Streator issued the following statement today upon receipt of correspondence from the Federal Aviation Administration denying the Authority’s Part 161 Study application for a full curfew at Bob Hope Airport: “The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority this morning, November 2nd, received from the Federal Aviation Administration a 42-page document that denied the Bob Hope Airport's Part 161 application for a full nighttime curfew. “The Airport Commission has not yet had the time to study the details of the FAA's document and will do so in the next two weeks. The Commission is deeply disappointed in the denial of its application, and renewed its commitment to seeking meaningful nighttime noise relief. “The Airport invested in excess of $7 million over the past nine years in research, analysis, and public comment, as well as innumerable staff hours, to create the application. BURBANK, Calif., May 18, 2009 — The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, owner and operator of Bob Hope Airport, has retained Ricondo and Associates for a fee of $94,450 to undertake the initial environmental review of a proposed regional intermodal transit center at the Airport that would provide access at a single point for air transport, Amtrak rail, Metrolink rail, buses, and rental cars to converge. “Bob Hope Airport is in a unique position to bring true innovation to linking surface and air transportation. With this energy-efficient solar-powered transit center in place, public transit by rail and bus becomes an efficient, convenient means to get to and from the Airport, and it will be a key step in reducing traffic congestion and air pollution on local city streets,” said Authority President Bill Wiggins. “We also anticipate improved bus service to more destinations, as well as dedicated parking for rail travelers at the Airport Train Station,” Wiggins added. The Authority will instead support any efforts by Van Nuys Airport for a nighttime curfew identical to the curfew being proposed for Bob Hope Airport. Cessna 172 Crashes Near AirportFour Persons Injured; Airport Operations Not Interrupted BURBANK. Calif., August 29, 2008 -- A Cessna 172 single-engine aircraft with three persons onboard crashed at the intersection of Clybourn Avenue and Valerio Street just west of Bob Hope Airport this evening while attempting to land at the airport. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. There was no disruption of service at the airport. There were no fatalities involved, but all three occupants suffered injuries, one serious and the other two minor. The serious injury was reportedly to the pilot, and he was transported to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. The other two occupants were taken to Holy Cross Hospital. One person on the ground suffered a minor injury. The aircraft was reportedly on approach from the north to Runway 15, the north-to-south runway, when it reported fuel problems, turned west and hit a power line and landed upside down on an automobile at 3110 Clybourn Avenue. John Hatanaka Appointed to Senior Deputy Executive Director Post
BURBANK, Calif., August 18, 2008 – The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority today announced the appointment of Dan Feger to the position of Executive Director of Bob Hope Airport, effective immediately. Authority President Bill Wiggins made the announcement at the conclusion of the Authority’s regular meeting and also announced the appointment of John Hatanaka to the post of Senior Deputy Executive Director, also effective immediately. Both executives had been serving as the senior managers of the airport on an interim basis since January when former executive director Dios Marrero left the Airport due to illness.
